Year 12 Consider Careers in Medicine

Last term, a group of Year 12 students visited the Barber–Surgeons’ Hall for an event looking at careers in medicine.

This beautiful red brick mansion is home to The Worshipful Company of Barbers – one of London’s oldest guilds, which dates back to when barbers commonly undertook surgical and medical work.

Our students had the opportunity to meet medical students and to talk with professionals from the widest range of specialisms – including a trauma surgeon, an obstetrician, an orthopaedist (bone specialist) and a psychiatrist.

Student Rezbieara says, 'The Medical Careers Carousel was an extremely helpful and insightful event. I got the opportunity to network with a variety of people from the medical industry ranging from; trauma, paediatric to orthopedic and general surgeons.'

Year 12’s Sabrina says, ‘It was an insightful and eye opening experience. It enabled me to network with many different people and gain a greater understanding about the careers within the industry.'
