Welcome to the Haverstock School website. We hope it gives you insight into our wonderful facilities, passionate and expert staff and exciting curriculum, but most of all our values and beliefs about education.
At Haverstock we ask students to Aim High, Step Forward and Be Kind. However, we don’t ask the children to do anything that we are not doing ourselves. These are the values that, as teachers and leaders, we aim to live by in the way that we run our school.
We ask students to be ambitious and to “Aim High”, but we also have great ambition ourselves in the experience we aim to give them. This includes our first class buildings and facilities, custom built in 2006; our curriculum, with its emphasis on fostering a love of learning; and our career provision, which gives students the opportunity work with global companies such as Deloitte, law firms and local business partners, who offer workplace visits, paid internships and a plethora of highly specified opportunities to meet the need of each individual at Haverstock School.
We encourage students to “Step Forward” and take advantage of our many co-curricular clubs, which suit every taste sport, performing arts, computing, film, video games, creative writing and even the opportunity to pursue student journalism through our very own students newspaper the Haverstock gazette. Hundreds of our students have now participated in the Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh Award scheme, participating in expeditions across the home counties and building valuable life skills.
But of the three values, the most important is to “Be Kind”. We want students to attend a school where they are happy because they are seen, heard, and treated with kindness and respect. This includes students with SEND, who, through adaptive pedagogy and targeted intervention, we support to access the curriculum and co-curriculum and enjoy their school experience just as their peers are able to do.
