Welcome To Our School
As the new Executive Headteacher, I'm delighted to welcome you to Haverstock School.
When I joined Haverstock at the start of this year, I was immediately impressed by its warm and welcoming atmosphere. Staff and students talk to each other with respect and kindness. We place great emphasis on treating everyone equally, to create an environment that is calm and friendly for all.
I was also very pleased to see the exceptionally high quality of teaching. Haverstock's curriculum is broad and relevant, and lessons are fresh and exciting. Our team of teaching staff has a great blend of energy, enthusiasm and experience.
Student behaviour is another outstanding aspect I found at Haverstock: our students love to learn. Clear behaviour policies are applied with kindness, and the students rise to meet our high expectations. Classrooms are disruption-free, giving every child a calm learning environment that allows them to focus and excel. Our bright, modern building has wonderful facilities for sports, music, drama and art. And our Co-curricular programme of over 70 weekly clubs and activities is second-to-none.
There are many exceptional features at Haverstock, but perhaps the happiest of all is Haverstock's remarkable 'stay-on' rate: 75% of our GCSE students choose to stay at Haverstock for Sixth Form, a far higher rate than at other Camden schools. I believe this speaks volumes about how safe, happy and confident our students feel.
Some of you may already know me from Acland Burghley, where I have been Headteacher since 2015 and continue to be Head. When the Governors of H3 Federation invited me to take on the role of H3 Executive Headteacher, I was pleased to accept. I now share my time between H3 and Acland Burghley, working closely with Camden to ensure that each school provides the best possible education for your children.
It's an exciting time to join Haverstock, a wonderful school community with strong and steady foundations. Together with Head of School, Katie Metselaar, I am greatly looking forward to leading Haverstock to the next level. We invite you to join us on the journey.
Thank you,
Nicholas John, Executive Headteacher
