Posted on: 7th Mar 2025– By Denis Dineen, Assistant Head - Safeguarding
We are thrilled to announce that our school has signed up to become a Rights Respecting School, a programme led by UNICEF UK that puts children’s rights at the heart of our school community.
The Rights Respecting Schools Award (RRSA) helps schools create a safe, inspiring, and inclusive environment for all students. By embedding the principles of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) into our ethos and curriculum, we aim to promote respect, wellbeing, and active citizenship among our students.
What Does This Mean for Our School?
Becoming a Rights Respecting School means that we will be:
- Teaching children about their rights and how they relate to their daily lives.
- Encouraging respect for the rights of others, fostering a culture of kindness and understanding.
- Creating a school environment where every child feels valued, listened to, and empowered.
How Can Parents and Carers Get Involved?
We believe that working together with families will strengthen our journey toward achieving this award. Here are some ways you can support:
- Talk to your child about their rights and what they are learning in school.
- Encourage discussions at home about fairness, respect, and responsibility.
- Participate in school events and activities related to the Rights Respecting Schools initiative.
We look forward to keeping you updated on our progress and sharing the positive impact this programme will have on our school community!
